For about 9 months I’ve given a Game Design course to a class in a nearby high school. This was done in collaboration with 3 other students from my school. In this course, the kids learned about game development and got a taste of all the different disciplines. By using a variety of teaching methods from lectures to class exercises, we tried to transfer our knowledge to the students as best as we could.
Since my expertise is in game design I focussed on that in my classes. I showed them examples of different design principles, ways level designers can guide the player and I let them make their own world in a worldbuilding class. Because I know 2 hour lectures can be rather boring, I always tried to add some spice to it by adding videos and having group exercises in my program to keep the students entertained. In the pictures below you can see some pictures that were taken during these classes.
